RUM-139A

The RUM-139A VL-ASROC (Vertical-Launch ASROC) is a standoff anti-submarine missile. Developed as an interim successor to the 1960s vintage RUR-5, the RUM-139A is an extended range antisubmarine missile meant to be used from the Mark 41 Vertical Launching System, and carries the improved Mark 46 NEARTIP torpedo. While not technically funded for procurement during the Cold War, a number of preproduction rounds are available in the late 1980's, allowing limited ASW missile capability for newly-commissioned VLS warships.
