Seabee-class

The Barge Carrier is a specialised Heavy-lift Ship. Known as a Lighter-Aboard Ship (or LASH) these vessels are loaded with smaller barges allowing for fast unloading at receiving ports. The Seabee design differs from the traditional LASH moving gantry design by incorporating a stern elevator that connects to rails on several cargo decks, where cargo is rolled into position. This gives them a secondary RO/RO capability by floating vehicle cargo onto the stern elevator.
