Description
Developed from the Soviet Neustrashimy-class destroyers, the Luda-class were the first modern guided-missile destroyers built in China. Known as the Type 051 in PLAN service, these ships were equipped with two triple launchers for the HY-1A anti-ship missile and specialized in anti-surface warfare. Later variants improved on sensors, combat systems, and armaments. Seventeen of the class were constructed between 1971 and 1990, making up the largest class of surface combatants in the PLAN.
