Description
In 1971, the United States transferred two Edsall-class radar picket ocean escorts to the South Vietnamese Navy (RVNN). These ships were the largest surface warships operated by the RVNN, in service through 1975 when South Vietnam fell. Of the two ships in service, Trần Khánh Dư (HQ-4) was captured by the North Vietnamese at Saigon Naval Shipyard, while Trần Hưng Đạo (HQ-1) escaped to the Philippines where it entered service as BRP Rajah Lakandula (PF-4). Note: these ships are represented by a modified version of the Gearing-class destroyer in Sea Power, with armaments equivalent to those aboard the Vietnamese frigates of the time.
